Best Convertible Stroller that Converts from Single to Double 2021 Reviews

There’s no doubt that a stroller is always top on the list for every new parent.  A stroller enables you to conveniently take along your baby for walks, shopping, outings, travel, etc. But what happens if you have multiple kids? Most parents purchase double strollers with seating options for two and these work well but only for some time unless you have twins. It becomes tricky for those with a big age gap when the older child graduates to walking. They are left pushing the double stroller with only one child in it and then having to deal with bulkiness, uneven weight distribution, not to mention awkward looking.

That is why for families with multiple kids, a convertible stroller is an excellent solution. A convertible stroller is a single stroller that allows you to add a second stroller seat to provide a ride for two. You can also opt to add an infant car seat, and some strollers also accept a bassinet.

When your child is bigger, you can detach the second seat to convert it back into a single stroller. And, if they are in the age where they still need a break after walking, you can add a bench seat so they can still ride along.

The beauty of these convertible strollers is that they are highly adaptable to suit your family’s changing needs. This way, you only have to purchase one high-quality convertible stroller for all your kids, which saves you both time and money.

Speaking of saving time, we have done you a favor and also reviewed the best convertible strollers you can find in the market, so you only need to read through, compare, and choose the one with your most desirable features and within your budget.

Features of convertible strollers

Newborn friendly- convertible strollers can be used from day one with an infant car seat. Some strollers also accept a bassinet allowing your baby to lay down flat instead of being propped up in a car seat.

Multiple seating configurations- most convertible strollers offer different seating configurations so that your kids can face you, face each other, or face the world ahead.

Additional seating option- convertible strollers allow you to place an extra seat either in front of or behind the existing seat to allow seating for two. In addition, some allow you to turn the extra seat into a bench seat so that the stroller acts as a sit n stand stroller, where the older child can either sit on the bench or stand behind their sibling.

How to pick the best convertible stroller that converts from single to double

When choosing the best convertible stroller for your family, here are a few considerations:

Number of kids

Knowing how many kids a stroller can carry should be one of your important deciding factors. For example, some convertible strollers can only accept two kids, while others allow you to add an additional bench seat for an older third sibling.

Ages of children riding in the stroller

Age is another influencing factor. If you have twins, you need a convertible stroller that accepts two infant car seats or bassinets at the same time instead of just one. If the kids are close in age and will likely use the stroller for quite a long time, you need a stroller with lots of seating arrangements that will work for these kids over the years. Their needs are bound to change so that sometimes they may need to face you to feel safe and for close interactions, or face each other to converse and play or face forward to get a better view of the world around them. For kids with a big age gap who walk and only need the stroller occasionally, seating arrangement may not matter a lot.

What you need the stroller for

Most convertible strollers are made for regular use on flat terrain, but if you need one to go for runs, you may want to choose a jogging stroller. Jogging strollers are built with suspension and wheels to handle rough terrains a lot better. They also have a swiveling front wheel that also locks in place for increased stability when running.

Stroller features

Convertible strollers come with cup holders, snack trays, storage compartments, and sun canopy. But some brands require you to buy these separately. The important thing is choosing a stroller that will ensure your kids are comfortable during rides. Below are the six best convertible strollers that convert from single to double that you can choose from:

Baby Jogger is one of the best convertible strollers for a growing family. It is built to last and converts from a single to a double stroller. It even accepts the addition of a glider board for a third older sibling. Each seat has a maximum weight capacity of 45 pounds.

The Lux stroller boasts over 20 different seating combinations that will work for your kids’ needs. Kids can sit facing forward, backward, or each other. In addition, you can use the stroller with two infant car seats or bassinets, so it is also a great option for parents with twins.

Despite the name, this stroller is not a jogger, but it has all-terrain tires that cruise on grounds from city pavements to muddy countryside. The handlebar height is adjustable so that short or tall parents can push comfortably. Instead of a standard foot brake, the Lux comes with a handbrake which is easy to access and apply. The seats are also comfy for your kids with adequate padding, leg rests, and large SPF 50 sun canopies.

One of the things you will appreciate is that this stroller is easy to fold and store. You can collapse it with the seats still attached, and there is an auto-lock to secure the fold. Also, the wheels can be removed for an even smaller fold, which won’t take much space in your trunk. The stroller also has a large storage basket underneath and extra back pockets enabling you to pack quite a lot of stuff.

 Pros

  • Can transport three children
  • 20 plus seat configurations
  • Large all-wheel tires
  • Easy to use handbrake
  • Adjustable handlebar height
  • Extendable canopy with magnetic peek-a-boo window
  • Large underneath storage basket
  • Small fold with auto-lock for easy storage and transportation

Cons

  • Pretty heavy

For those looking for a high-end stroller with reasonable pricing, the Vista V2 is the best. We are talking of premium quality materials with leather accents, padded seats, and lots of features. Not only can it carry two, but three children owing to the capacity for two seats plus a standing bench. In addition, you can use the seats with two bassinets, infant car seats, or toddler seats, or any of these combinations.

If you are a parent to a newborn, this stroller conveniently comes with a nice bassinet at no extra cost to you. The bassinet has a perforated mattress, waterproof liner, vented base, and a canopy, providing a comfy spot for your little one to take naps and to sleep in at night. The reversible toddler seat accommodates kids from 3 months to 35 pounds. It can also recline fully, allowing your older toddler to nap on the go as well. With extendable canopies on the seats, your kids are protected from the sun, and the mesh allows visibility and airflow, so your kids are cool and comfortable.

The Vista V2 is one of the easiest to steer and maneuver even with three kids on board, and with suspension on both front and rear wheels, it is just as enjoyable to ride in. The handlebar height can be adjusted to your comfort. When it comes to folding, the Vista has a one-step quick fold and is self-standing. In addition, you can fold with or without the second seat attached.  This makes the Vista V2 very convenient for travel.

Apart from an extra-large under-seat basket, the stroller also includes a mesh bug cover for the bassinet and toddler seat and a carrying case for the bassinet.

If you are on a budget, the Britax B-Ready is one of the most affordable convertible strollers on the market. This stroller can be used as a single or double stroller with tandem seating and seats only two children. In addition, it can be used with two infant car seats or a bassinet. If you are using a Britax car seat, you just need to click the car seat in, and you are ready to go. No need for adapters.

Britax B-ready offers 12 seating configurations and allows one kid to face forward while the other faces the parent. We loved that the second seat can recline fully, allowing both kids to nap as they need. However, we’re disappointed to learn that the maximum weight capacity for the second seat is only 35 pounds which is quite low compared to others.

With this stroller, you never have to worry about having a flat tire because foam-filled instead of air.  You can push comfortably because the handle has comfort grips, and the height is adjustable to fit parents of all heights. The stroller also has a frame suspension system, ensuring a smooth ride for your kids.

The B-Ready is equipped with a large sun canopy with mesh windows. It also has a large under-seat storage basket which is easily accessible. The stroller can fold with the two seats still attached in a matter of seconds, and there is a latch to secure the fold, which makes it easy to store and transport.

  • Puncture free foam tires with suspension
  • Second seat is reversible and can recline fully
  • Adjustable handlebar height
  • Budget friendly pricing

Cons

  • Lower weight limit on the second seat

This sporty stroller is perfect for those who want to keep up an active outdoor life while also taking their little ones along.  It has a cool design and is built to last. With its all-terrain tires, you are ready to go on walks, runs, or adventures in the city or bumpy off-road terrains. The front wheel can be unlocked and allowed to swivel when walking and also be locked in place when jogging or running.

The Phil & Ted Sport Stroller has a capacity for one or two children, and you can use it with an infant car seat or bassinet. It is one of the most versatile strollers in the market, with 26 different seating configurations to offer your kids the most enjoyable and comfortable experience. It is also one of the few options with reversible riding options where both kids can face forward or backward. You can also have one child to ride facing forward while the other rides facing the rear. The only thing we didn’t like is that the second seat only accommodates kids up to 33 pounds, which is the lowest on this list.

This stroller has a narrow design, which makes it easy to maneuver in tight places. It easily folds up on one hand into a small, compact size that doesn’t take much room in your car trunk. It also has a decent sized storage basket and extra pockets to carry all your stuff, while an extendable UPF 50 with a peeping window provides ample protection to your little one.

Pros

  • Lighter than most other convertibles
  • All-terrain tires
  • Narrow design makes it very easy to maneuver
  • Increased safety with bumper bar
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • One-handed compact fold

Cons

  • Lower weight limit on the second seat, 33 pounds
  • Storage isn’t quite as big compared
  • It can’t fold with the second seat attached

Evenflo Pivot Xpand is another excellent choice if you are on a tight budget. Despite its low pricing, it has an impressive performance, almost like the expensive models. First, you love that it can accommodate not just one or two kids (two infants, infant, and toddler, two toddlers) but also three when you add a glider board.

The stroller accepts one or two infant car seats in both single and double modes. It’s really nice that the stroller comes with a SafeMax infant car seat and adapters are built-in, so you don’t need to purchase anything separately.

The Pivot Expand offers up to 22 seating configurations and allows forward-facing and rear riding modes. The two seats can recline in an almost flat position enabling your kids to ride comfortably. The infant seat has a weight limit of 35 pounds, while the toddler seat allows up to 55 pounds, which is really generous.

The wheels on this stroller have suspensions and should glide smoothly on flat terrains. Parents also have an easy time pushing because the handlebar height is adjustable for comfort. The stroller has a flip-flop-friendly rear brake that is easy to engage for safety.

The other area the Pivot Xpand shines the most is the storage size-it is really huge, over 2 feet in length, so that you can pack not just your essentials but all the extras, including groceries. Other perks include a decent-sided canopy and cup holders.

Pros

  • Includes SafeMax infant car seat
  • 22 different seating configurations
  • Easy to fold
  • Adjustable handlebar
  • Anti rebound bar on the car seat
  • Easy to use flip flop friendly brakes
  • Vast storage basket
  • Great pricing

Cons

  • Parents complain that the toddler seat is too small despite the 55 pound advertised weight limit.
  • Heavy and bulky even when folded

Bugaboo is one of the most expensive stroller brands, but you get a stroller with a sleek design, sturdy build, and top-notch quality. The Donkey 3 mono is perfect for twins, seeing that it’s one of the fewest in the market that offers side-to-side seating.

Donkey 3 is designed for a growing family. If you have twins, you can buy the twin option kits separately, or if you have a baby and a toddler, you can get the duo conversion kit. The stroller allows different seating configurations with forward-facing and rear-facing modes, and both seats can recline fully to allow napping.

One of the things parents worry about with side-by-side seats is maneuverability. But, with the Donkey 3 stroller, the seats are narrow enough to pass through a standard doorway. Plus, you can steer it with only one hand due to its large EVA foam wheels, which make it lighter and easy to control. The other thing that sets the stroller apart is the 360-degree rotating handle. It enables you to turn around your baby to face you instead of going around front to pick them up-talk about convenience!

The Donkey 3 also has features like a sun canopy with a peek-a-boo window and a mesh window, an under-seat basket and side luggage basket to pack all your stuff, and a quick, compact fold for easy storage.

Pros

  • Sleek design
  • Includes a bassinet
  • One-handed steering
  • Full reclining seats
  • Side to side seating
  • Ample storage
  • Reversible handlebar

Cons

  • Steep pricing
  • Bulky even when folded
The Most Expensive Strollers

The Most Expensive Strollers

I have always looked forward to the annual Consumer Electronics Shows (CES). Prior to COVID, I attended the 2019 and 2020 CES shows and what has caught my eyes lately is how expensive baby products are getting expensive. Wondering what’s the most expensive stroller in the market in 2021. I have gone through some recent releases as well as established brands known for manufacture and retail of the most expensive baby strollers.

Expensive gadgets and strollers unveilled in 2021

So, how much are baby strollers?

The cost of a regular baby stroller ranges from $85 to $750 with the luxury category of baby strollers starting at around $1,100. If you want to splurge, check a selection of the most expensive strollers from as low as $1100 to as high as $10,000. I encourage parents to stick to their budget while making sure that the stroller of choice has all the features you’d need in a luxury high-class stroller.

Why are strollers so expensive?

Most baby gear is costly, strollers included. You have to spend a bit more if you want a solid stroller with a sturdy frame, great wheels with decent suspension, comfort, and convenient features, and one that will grow with your child and be passed down to your growing family. And, much more if the stroller has a designer label because those don’t come cheap.

Is it worth buying an expensive stroller?

Well, this is a personal decision as there is no single stroller that suits everyone. Expensive is relative for everyone, so you can spend as little as less than $100 or over $1000, all depending on the value you want to get, your lifestyle, and your budget. But, there is usually some truth in the saying that that you get what you pay for. Plus, high end strollers usually fetch high resale value once you are done using it if it’s well maintained.

Features of the most expensive baby carriage

Bassinet-many high end strollers include a bassinet for use with infants and small babies.

Reclining stroller seat- almost all luxury strollers have a fully reclining seat to allow your child to ride comfortably, whether asleep or awake.

Reversible seating-many pricy strollers allow you to have the baby face you or face the world to enjoy viewing the surroundings.

Superior suspension-high end strollers usually have high quality suspension mechanism, ensuring a smooth ride.

Adjustable handlebar- Most expensive strollers have an extendable handlebar allowing tall, short, or average parents to push comfortably.

Foldable design- some expensive strollers have removable or foldable panels to minimize storage space and easier transportation. But, even then, because of the kind of materials and layers they are made of, most of these luxurious strollers are large and heavy, but most people who can afford these strollers obviously have plenty of space at home and in their car boot.

Customizable colors- some luxury strollers allow you to choose the color options and patterns that will go with your family aesthetics.

Exclusivity- some high end stroller brands make only limited editions. They also issue a certificate of authenticity for the strollers to prevent imitations.

Luxurious fabrics- most high end strollers will use hand stitched leather fabrics, sheepskin, and other choice fabrics and embellishments.

Convenient features and accessories-expensive strollers have features like canopy and undercarriage baskets or trays but usually very generous sized. They may also come with rain cover and bug nets or require you to buy at an extra cost as accessories.

Do I Need a Stroller? Full Guide 2021

Do I Need a Stroller? Full Guide 2021

Strollers are a must-have kit for parents with small children. They come in handy whenever you want to head out running errands, going shopping, or traveling. When going through crowded places, you can have a sense of peace knowing your child is in front of you instead of lagging behind and getting lost in the crowd.

Strollers also enable parents to continue enjoying active outdoor life. If you have a small child, it can be hard to get out and exercise. But with the right strollers, all you have to do is buckle your little one into the stroller seat, and you are ready to enjoy the sun. Jogging strollers are designed specifically for jogging and running and allow you to go through uneven terrains. Most of them also accept car seats which makes them suitable to use with newborns. The only caution to keep in mind is that you shouldn’t run with a baby who doesn’t have head control yet.

The third reason why you need a stroller is that kids grow fast and become heavier by the day. If you have to carry a thirty pound child for more than half an hour, you will definitely feel the burn in your arms. A stroller comes to relieve you of all that weight so that instead of lifting, you simply push.

Finally, sometimes you will take your kids to day long events like visiting the zoo, Disneyland, amusement parks, etc. You will need to carry lots of stuff from diapers, wipes, jackets, snacks and drinks, and the likes. Strollers provide you with a decent amount of storage space to stash you and your baby’s essentials. Plus, most good strollers also provide a cup holder and parent tray for your refreshments within easy reach.

In general, strollers are true lifesavers whenever you are headed out with your child- they make things much easier and convenient.

Do I need a stroller bag for gate check?

No, you can just gate check the stroller without the bag, especially if you have a small, inexpensive umbrella stroller that can fit in the plane overhead bin. But bagging your stroller is a good thing. It will keep all your stroller parts together, clean, and if it’s padded, protect the stroller from damage in case it’s roughly handled- usually, strollers are considered fragile by most airlines and therefore handled more gently than regular baggage but, it’s not a guarantee.

Many airlines also provide strong plastic bags for strollers, bags, and other items.

Do I need a stroller bassinet?

A bassinet stroller is an essential item if you plan on being frequently on the move with your newborn or infant. They provide a completely flat lying position so that little ones can sleep safely and comfortably. They usually have a large canopy for protection from the sun, wind, rain, and even curious eyes. Since most bassinets can only be used for a few months, buy a stroller bassinet that easily converts into a standard stroller as your baby grows older to get the most value.

Do I need a stroller organizer?

You may not need to buy a stroller organizer as many strollers come with plenty of storage compartments to keep you and your baby’s essentials. But, if your stroller lacks pockets, child and parent trays, and if you need to take more stuff with you, then you may need an organizer.

You can attach the organizer bag onto the handles of your stroller to keep your essentials within easy reach.

Do I need a stroller rain cover?

It depends. Some parents never need a rain cover in all their parenting years. But, if you are approaching a rainy season or just for the sheer confidence that you are ready to face the weather whenever you are headed out, then investing in a rain cover is a good idea. You will be happy to have your kid(s), the stroller, and all your stuff dry after a downpour.

Do I need a stroller right away after baby delivery?

You may not need a stroller right away as long as you have an infant car seat where your baby is safe and comfortable while traveling. Most people find that a carrier is all they need for short trips. Later on, when you are more active and are able to move around more, then a stroller might be handy.

Do I need a stroller at Disney world?

If you have kids younger than 8 then, stroller is a must-have when visiting Disney World. The place is huge, so you will walk a lot to the various theme parks, Disney Springs, and surrounding hotels and resorts. When you factor all that walking and the heat (depending on the season you visit), you can expect your kids to get tired, sleepy, and fussy. With a stroller, kids can rest whenever they feel tired, making the experience pleasant for everyone.

You can bring your own stroller, or if you don’t want to travel with it, they have stroller rentals at each theme park and at Disney Springs.

Do I need a stroller travel bag?

If you have a good expensive stroller you want to protect, then bagging in a padded bag will help protect it from grime, wetness, and damage. You can also buy a lighter bag or use a large garbage bag to pack your stroller into. Plus, a bag provides extra space to stash other items you don’t need in flight.

Why do I need a jogging stroller?

You need a jogging stroller if you plan on running, jogging, or just going on off road trips with your baby. Jogger strollers are designed to absorb impact even when moving at high speed or on uneven terrain. This ensures your child is safe and comfortable through the rides.

Do I need a stroller for a 3-year-old?

At three years, your toddler can walk confidently and understand your directions, but they may not be able to go for long walks. They will need a break to rest in the stroller if you are walking long distances.

Besides, in as much as we want kids to be active, they have different physical capabilities. So it’s okay for your kid three years or even older to use a stroller if they are having difficulties covering distances.

Do I need a pram or a stroller – which one to get?

Pram and strollers are both great options that help you keep a close eye on your baby while you are on the move.

Pram is a carrier with a bassinet or flat lying position for infants and newborns until they can sit up at about 6 months. While prams are comfortable for the baby, they are often cumbersome, difficult to maneuver, and don’t fold easily for storage or transport. They are also pretty expensive.

On the other hand, strollers are very easy to use and are mostly designed for toddlers who can sit up independently. But, there are few brands that allow full recline, which is ideal for newborns. Strollers vary greatly in design to suit different needs from umbrella strollers, jogger strollers, twin strollers, double strollers, travel systems, etc.

We prefer strollers over prams since they are more flexible and can suit everyone’s lifestyle. We would recommend buying a full size stroller with a fully reclining seat. This way, you will simply adjust the degree of recline as your child grows to avoid spending more to buy another stroller while keeping your child safe and comfortable.

Do I need a car seat stroller combo?

Having an infant car seat that instantly clicks into the stroller is super convenient. This way, you can easily move your sleeping baby from the car to the stroller and vice versa without waking them up.

You can get the travel system in matching colors, affordable pricing, and no need to buy extras, like adapters. Plus, the car seat clicks in fast. The problem with these systems is that you find individual pieces do not have the same quality-Usually the stroller quality is lacking. Also, compared to other infant car seats that are sold separately, the general quality is poor.

If you want to get the best combo, you might have to buy your infant car seat brand of choice and strollers separately and use adapters to connect. This may be a more expensive option and not easy to connect, but you get the quality and features you desire.

Gb Pockit

as of September 15, 2021 8:32 am

Gb Pockit is most famous for having the tiniest fold in the world! Its small size makes it very easy to navigate through tight and crowded places, narrow aisles, and between restaurant tables. Additionally, it weighs a mere 9.5 pounds, which is just incredible. It easily collapses and stores in overhead luggage bins on the airplane.  So if you want a convenient stroller to run errands and frequent travel, Gb Pockit is perfect.

The Pockit has a regular toddler seat, accommodating kids from 6 months up to a maximum of 55 pounds. The seat’s back is not cushy or supportive, so it’s only suitable for a child who can sit up unassisted. However, the backrest is pretty tall (about 24 inches) so it is also suitable for tall toddlers and bigger kids.

It has a five point harness that adjusts as your child grows. The shoulder straps are nicely padded for comfort. It also has a canopy (very small and flimsy) and underneath storage, a basket to carry 11 pounds of luggage.

The stroller has a two-step folding process, which might need a bit of practice, but it’s effortless once you get used. It also has a lockable front swivel wheel which makes the stroller roll smoothly and for stability. It also has a foot operated rear parking brake for safety.

One thing to note is that the Pockit does not recline, and it also doesn’t sit upright either, so if you are looking for a stroller that allows napping or for a curious explorer who loves to sit upright, you may want to skip the Pockit.

Pros

  • Durable construction
  • Ultra lightweight, easy to carry
  • Ultra compact fold, perfect for travel
  • Ideal for tall kids
  • Narrow width hence easy to maneuver tight corners and crowded places

Cons

  • The canopy is really small and flimsy; it’s easily blown back
  • No wheel suspension, hence not suitable for uneven surfaces

Reviewers have mentioned that it easily fits on the overhead bins on airplanes when the leg extenders are folded down. It also includes a built-in carry strap enabling you to transport with ease.

Mountain Buggy Nano Stroller, Black

As a stroller designed by a dad from the mountainous New Zealand, Mountain Buggy Nano is an all in one stroller to bring dads and (moms) excellent functionality, style, comfort, and convenience at very reasonable pricing.

One of the unique benefits of the Nano is that it serves you right from day one with additional attachments such as the Newborn Cocoon or infant car seat.  Later, you then switch to a toddler seat with a capacity of up to 44 pounds. The Newborn Cocoon is a cozy carry cot that has a completely flat position for your newborn.

The second benefit is that the Nano easily converts into a travel system, so you don’t have to buy any other stroller. Even better, it comes already equipped with adapters that are compatible with almost all major infant car seats. This means you don’t need to wake up your sleeping baby when transferring them from infant car seat to stroller- You simply need to install the car seat into the stroller using the belt adapters. This is very convenient if you run on errands all day or often drive with your child.

The Nano has multi reclining seat positions and adjustable leg rests, allowing your child to be most relaxed during rides. The seat is also padded and has a three panel extendable canopy for maximum sun protection. It also has a generous storage basket underneath for all your essentials. When the seat is reclined, the seat back allows airflow to prevent sweaty backs, and the canopy visor extension is overlaid with a flap to keep out the chill during winter.

The Nano folds in two easy stages. It folds compactly into a tiny package measuring 21 x 12 x 20 and weighs just 13 pounds. It also comes with a storage travel bag for convenience. It fits luggage bins for trains and airplanes and on car trunks, making traveling with your baby hassle free!

If you don’t like this black model, the Nano has several stylish designs you can choose from.

Pros

  • Great for travel, takes little storage space, and is lightweight
  • Easy one handed maneuverability
  • Converts to travel system, compatible with many car seats and comes with adapters
  • Multi positional recline allows napping and upright position
  • Compact folding
  • Includes a storage carry bag
  • Ample storage capacity

Cons

  • The wheels are not suitable for uneven terrain
  • Not the easiest folding mechanism, requires a bit of practice
  • Doesn’t have cup holders

Summer Infant 3Dlite

Summer Infant 3D Lite is a favorite for thousands of parents, and with good reason. Its lightweight, easily foldable, reclines, and portable and retails at less than $100. With all the bills that need to be taken care of in the family, the Summer Infant is a budget friend option without sacrificing your child’s comfort.

Despite the cheap pricing, the stroller is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum frame. The tires are made of Eva foam, making the stroller only ideal for flat surfaces. The front wheel swivels 360 degrees and can also be locked into place when traversing bumpy grounds. For extra cushioning, the front wheel has anti-shock suspension.  It also has two brake pedals for each of the rear wheels.

3D lite is small, so it maneuvers through crowded places easily.  While the handles’ height cannot be adjusted, they are padded and rise high enough for average and tall people to push comfortably. The stroller folds compactly and weighs just 13 pounds. It locks automatically, enabling you to carry it on your shoulder on one hand and the baby on the other hand. This makes the stroller ideal for running everyday errands.

The stroller offers four recline positions, but the lowest is not entirely flat, so we would not recommend it for newborns as it doesn’t provide the spine support they need. The most upright position is not 90 degrees, so it may not be comfortable if you have a curious toddler who likes to sit upright as they scan the surroundings. It doesn’t have leg rests, but there is a small non-adjustable footrest.

It has a decent storage basket underneath, a removable cup holder, and an additional pocket on the seat to keep your essentials safe and easily accessible. The only thing we didn’t like is that the canopy is really short, so it doesn’t provide much protection, especially for small babies.

Pros

  • Lightweight and portable with included carry strap
  • Easy maneuverability through narrow and crowded places
  • Compact fold
  • Plenty of storage space and a back pocket
  • Has a removable cup holder
  • Affordable pricing

Cons

  • Not comfortable for tall kids as the seat is shallow with non adjustable footrests
  • Small canopy; doesn’t provide much protection against the sun

Best Strollers for Tall Dads

Strollers vary widely in terms of sizing. When you are tall 5’8″ and above, you will need to consider other factors aside from comfort or safety features.

A stroller handlebar height will determine how comfortable you will be pushing the stroller. Pushing on handlebars that are too low causes you to hunch your back and shoulders and result in a painful back with time.

These are some great strollers for tall people

It comes with telescoping extending handlebar with a range of 40.5 up to 43 inches, making it suitable for tall dads.

The Cruz provides smooth one handed rides on all terrains with its shock absorbing, all-wheel suspension. It comes with a toddler seat for kids from 6 months up to 50 pounds. But, you can use it with small babies by buying the additional bassinet.

As you would expect from UPPA, the Cruz is luxurious with premium fabrics with leather accents, padding, multi positional recline seat with upright and near flat position, and leg rests for utmost comfort. The seat is reversible so that it can face forward or rear.

With an adjustable handlebar up to nine positions, BOB Flex 2.0 is our highly recommended jogger for tall dads. The handlebar extends to a maximum height of 48 inches which is comfortable for people over 6’5”.  Not only that, but you will also find that the way the handlebars are angled, you get more legroom allowing you to make longer strides.

This top of the class jogger ensures smooth rides on all terrains, from paved surfaces to off road terrains with large air filled tires and its powerful mountain bike suspension. The locking front swivel wheel provides stability when running or jogging.

The jogger is compatible with infant car seats, so you can use it right from birth as a travel system. But, keep in mind that you should not run with a child below six months. You can use the jogger until your child is 75 pounds, which is a really long time.

The other reason why BOB shines above the other joggers is that it allows both an upright seating position that enables your child to see the surrounding without straining and a near flat recline for napping. Most joggers and strollers have a semi incline that is not comfortable for some kids.

The stroller also has some great features like a no-rethread five point harness, wrist strap, integrated pockets, and large storage basket, and an extra large UPF 50 canopy.

It weighs 28.5 pounds which is typical for jogger strollers.

How to choose the best baby strollers for dads

As everyone’s lifestyle is different, just like strollers, you have a lot to consider before buying a stroller. Below are the important aspects you need to consider:

1. Type of stroller you need

There are different types of strollers in the market for different needs/lifestyles. Below are some of the strollers you will find:

Umbrella stroller– these are usually lightweight (under 15 pounds) mainly designed for portability. They come with several features such as a canopy, partially reclinable seat, cup holders, and storage basket. They are the most convenient for everyday use as they are easily foldable and can maneuver tight spaces. Most of them can only be used with kids from 6 months and do not have a convertible option.

Jogging stroller-these are for those who want to go jogging or running with the baby. Usually, they navigate all terrain, so they are good for hiking and exploring, off road and forest trails. They should have a front wheel that can swivel for flexibility and be locked in place for stability when running. Depending on the model, they can be compatible with infant car seats, have full reclining seats, adjustable handlebars, extendable canopy, and large storage baskets. For safety, you want to make sure it has a five point harness, a wrist strap, and a handbrake. The challenge with jogger strollers is that they are bulky and heavy.

Keep in mind that it’s not safe or recommended to go running with a baby who doesn’t have head control or can sit up unassisted.

Double stroller- these are for those with twins or multiple toddlers. You can choose a tandem design (where one child sits in front of the other) or side by side seating design. You would of course expect these to be bigger and heavier. Consider the width and see if they will easily fit through standard doorways. Also check, depending on your kid’s age, if they accept car seats.

Full sized strollers- these are the more suitable for most families as they come loaded with features and can be passed down to several kids. They are normally convertible with a car seat or bassinet, allowing you to use them from birth. Apart from the usual convenient features, they also have sturdy tires with shock absorption, reversible seating option, generously padded seat, deep seat recline, adjustable handlebars, etc.

2. Your desired features

Strollers have a lot of features. Narrow down your choice by considering what is really important to you/ best meets your needs. Here are the features to consider:

Safety– Your child’s safety comes before everything else, so make sure the stroller is JMPA certified.

Weight-the lighter the stroller, the easy it is to push, carry up and down the stairs, load and unload, travel with, and so forth. And remember, just because a stroller feels lightweight doesn’t mean it’s lacking in quality. Most are made from a sturdy but lightweight frame.

Foldability-maybe you never need to fold your stroller, but if you have to travel frequently or get them into your car, an easily foldable stroller is life saving. You don’t want to spend all your time and strength wrestling to fold the stroller or lock it down. There are some good one handed and compact folding strollers.

Wheel quality– Choose a stroller with sturdy tires that will give you a smooth experience even on rough terrain. Large, air filled wheels do not get stuck when navigating grassy or and dirt roads.

Handlebar height- Most strollers and joggers have a fixed handle height and are usually comfortable for the average person. If you are short or tall, you might find yourself uncomfortable pushing certain strollers. Test out a few strollers and see how they fit your height and gait. Even better, choose a stroller with adjustable handlebars.

Storage-as you take along your baby on your adventures, you will need to carry things like diapers, a coat, toys, your keys, and phone, or even groceries on your way back. Choose a stroller with a large basket and several pockets where you can stash some essentials.

Cup holders– these are nice to have. You can have your beverages, pacifiers, snacks, and the likes within easy reach.

Canopy-choose a stroller with an extendable canopy to keep your child protected from the sun, rain, and winds. Some models even come with ventilated panels to provide additional airflow and allow you to keep a close eye on your child.

Compatibility with car seats– if you have a small baby, you need a stroller that accepts a car seat, so your child has proper head and neck support. Another advantage is that you will easily transfer your sleeping baby from the car to stroller without waking them up. And, it gives better value for your money.

Washable fabric– babies are messy, and the stroller will definitely take a hard beating. Choose a stroller with removable covers or easy-to-wash fabrics to increase your stroller’s longevity.

3. Your budget

Prices range from as high as $1000 plus for the high end strollers to as low as $100 or even less. Of course, the pricey models are more versatile and come loaded with convenience features that you may not need. So, let your budget guide your choice.

Strollers for Child Over 50 Pounds 2021

Buying a stroller with a high weight limit is a smart decision. It grows with your child, and if for any reason they just can’t keep up walking like when you go out with them to run errands, outings, museums, or any such long distances, they can use it. Otherwise, it would really wear you down to haul a 50 pound plus toddler on your arms the whole time.

Now, finding large strollers for big kids can be a tough task as most strollers in the market today have a limit of between 35 to 50 pounds max. But, you are in luck because here below, we have made a list of the best strollers for big kids over 50 pounds. They include different types, a wide variety of features, and different weight limits so you can choose whichever best suits your needs.

GB Pockit+ is our best stroller for kids over 50 pounds. It has a large weight capacity of up to 55 pounds while being the lightest stroller on the market, weighing only 9.5 pounds. Additionally, it has the smallest fold of all strollers, so that it can fit easily into a bag, car trunk, or in the overhead bins on airplanes, trains, or anywhere else you might want to put.

It has all the great features you would desire on a stroller, like a UPF50+ canopy, padded seat with 5 point safety harness, and a storage basket under the seat to keep your essentials. When your child needs to relax or nap, you can recline the seat in multiple positions.

Despite being small and lightweight, this stroller is very sturdy and durable. Front swivel wheels make it easy to navigate, and they can be locked for stability on uneven terrain. This is the best stroller for everyday use with your 4 or 5-year-old kid. You can also turn it into a travel system with Cybex infant car seats with adapters. Take note; this stroller is not for all terrains but rather for city sidewalks, airports, and places without bumpy terrain.

If you want a big stroller that can accommodate a big kid but you don’t want a massive stroller, the Baby Jogger City Mini GT will suit you perfectly. It is of high quality, and you can be able to use it for many years. Additionally, it has a roomy seat, tons of practical features, and a generous weight limit of 65 pounds.

Featuring all-terrain non-flat tires with front swivel wheel suspension, this stroller provides a smooth, comfortable ride. The plush padded seat reclines almost flat to give a more relaxing position, and the footrest adjusts. It also has a 5 point safety harness that keeps your child safely strapped throughout the rides.

The other features we liked include an adjustable handlebar, a large adjustable canopy with two peek-a-boo windows, and a rear accessible storage basket. You will also probably like the hand-operated brake. We find it much easier to use than a foot-activated one.

While this jogger is a bit heavy at 22 pounds, you will love that it folds down small and compactly, so it takes just a small space in your trunk. And, the folding mechanism is the fastest and easiest ever! Pull the strap on the seat, and the whole thing folds down. Also, the collapsing strap doubles up as a carrying strap, making the process even easier.

The City Mini GT is pricey, but if you plan on using it as a travel system to use from birth, it will give you excellent value for your money. In that case, it is compatible with City Jogger infant car seats, but you also need to buy the adapter and the car seat.

Features

  • All-terrain wheels with suspension
  • Hand-operated brakes
  • Multi-position recline
  • 5 point harness
  • Adjustable handlebar height
  • One-handed compact fold
  • Large adjustable UV 50+ canopy with peek a boo window
  • Rear accessible basket
  • Compatible with City Jogger infant car seats

Pros

  • High quality and durable
  • Smooth gliding and easy to maneuver
  • Folds up small and compact
  • The easy and quick folding mechanism
  • Adjustable handlebar height provides a comfortable pushing experience for all people

  • The basket is a bit small and hard to access in the rear
  • Doesn’t have a cup holder

This is one of the best jogging strollers for the big kids in the market. It is very highly rated in terms of quality, features, and design, which is why it is third on our list despite being the heaviest. If you are looking for a jogger stroller for big kids that can maneuver any terrain like a breeze, BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 is what you need.

It has all-terrain tires and state of the art suspension that lets you ride on the woods, beach, snow, muddy grounds without your kid feeling any bumps. It also has a wrist strap for safety and a foot brake. It is compatible with almost all the popular infant car seats such as Britax, Chicco, Graco, and more. This means you can start using this fantastic jogger right from birth till your child is a whopping 75 pounds/44 inches tall! The stroller seat is well padded and reclines to almost flat for a nap. Moreover, it is redesigned to provide more airflow to keep the passenger cool and comfortable.

You will love how user-friendly the design is. For example, it is a no-rethread harness, and the folding mechanism is activated in two easy steps that take just a few seconds. But what impressed us the most was having an adjustable handlebar with 9 different positions! This unique feature is especially great for those very tall and short parents to be comfortable when pushing. You will love other features, including a large UPF 50+ canopy, a large storage basket, two bottle holders, and four pockets to stash away your valuables neatly.

Again BOB Revolution Flex 3.0 is designed as a jogger and is bulky and heavy (28.5 pounds), so it might not be the most convenient for everyday use. That said, some parents still find it easy to use, and in any case, it can be folded down to a more manageable smaller size like other joggers.

Features

  • Front locking swivel wheel
  • Adjustable handlebar with 9 different positions
  • 5 point no-rethread harness
  • One hand multi-position recline
  • Large storage basket, six pockets
  • UPF 50+ canopy with a Peek and chat window
  • Compatibility with BOB, Britax, Chicco, Cybex, Graco, Maxi-Cosi, Nuna, Peg Prego infant car seats

  • Accommodates up to 75 pounds of weight
  • Height-adjustable handlebars make it suitable for tall parents
  • One-handed recline
  • No-rethread harness makes adjusting straps so easy
  • The reflective canopy provides full coverage

Cons

  • Expensive
  • No accessories included raising the already high price
  • Heavy and bulky

This is one of the best strollers in the market today from a premium brand you are familiar with. It is reasonably priced with great quality and features, without being too bulky hence taking the fourth position on our list. If you are looking for a lightweight stroller you can use for quite a long while; this is it. It has a lower weight limit of 5 pounds to 55 pounds, so you can use it right from infancy and through toddlerhood.

The stroller has a three-wheel configuration with two rear wheels and a swivel front wheel to easily maneuver the ground while the suspension system delivers a smooth ride. Keep in mind it is not designed as an all-terrain stroller though it looks like a jogger, it will handle urban settings and gravel beautifully.

It has an impressive large canopy that was redesigned to provide better protection from the front and on the sides, and a mesh peek-a-boo window that also provides ventilation to keep your kid from being sweaty. The seat can recline infinite positions. Meaning, you can adjust it to any angle your child feels comfortable in. Some parents have complained that there is always a slight incline so that the child cannot sit upright; still, most kids have comfortably sat up and looked out. Thankfully, it can recline to almost flat, so even infants with no head support are comfortable. There is also a footrest, which is a must-have with older kids and a five-point harness helps for safety.

It also has convenient features like an extra-large basket, zippered pocket, and a one-handed folding mechanism. If you wish to make it into a travel system, it is compatible with Britax infant car seats and adapters are included.

Features

Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight is fifth on our list because despite taking on weight as large as 75 pounds, it is still one of the lightest jogger strollers (25.7 pounds), and the pricing is not super expensive. It uses aircraft aluminum for its sturdy frame to avoid adding on a lot of weight. The stroller can be used from 3months of age or with a car seat adapter you can use right from birth- which is a smart investment.

This jogger has two 12 inch wheels in the rear and a 12-inch front wheel. The front wheel is lockable to gain stability while jogging or running, and it also swivels to increase agility and ease of maneuvering. No need to worry about punctures; it comes with a tire pump as a bonus!

Joovy Zoom Ultralight stroller is very spacious, and your bigger kid will be able to ride comfortably in it. It has a high seat that gives taller children plenty of legroom. There is also about 22 inches of headspace from the seat to the top to rest their head, which is impressive. While on the move, the large canopy provides adequate protection from the sun and a peek-a-boo window lets you keep an eye on your passenger. A 5 point harness keeps the child secure in the seat. You also need to know that the canopy, footrest, and the whole fabric are designed to allow airflow to prevent sweating and discomfort.

Lastly, the jogger provides you with a parent organizer, including a zippered pocket to keep your phone and keys and two cup holders for your water and beverage. There is also a mesh basket underneath for you to bring along whatever else you need.

If you are looking for a decent jogger for kids over 50 pounds that can last years without costing an arm and a leg, you will not go wrong with Joovy Zoom 360 Ultralight.

Closing on our list of six best strollers for kids over 50 pounds is the UPPA baby G-LUXE. This stroller is pricey for a lightweight stroller, but that is the tradeoff for getting luxurious fabric, plush padding, and stylish design. Every aspect of this stroller speaks of top-notch quality and the fabrics can even be removed for easy washing, which is really nice.

The seat is very roomy and deep, and the backrest reaches 20 inches, which makes it one of the comfiest compared to other strollers. There is about 7 inches more on top of the canopy for extra headroom for tall kids to sit comfortably (although they might not nap because there is no head support beyond the 20 inches).

One of this 2018 model’s improved features is the single front wheel design that makes it a breeze to maneuver on uneven terrain such as gravel (the previous model had double wheels that made rattling noises when moving). All wheels suspension system makes the gliding impressively smooth. To bring the stroller to a stop, the whole system is linked, so you only need to gently step on the brakes.

The canopy was also upgraded to have three extendable panels and an additional sun visor to provide adequate protection for your kid. Also, the handles have more rubber for a better grip and less sweaty hands.

Other impressive features include a one-handed recline and adjustable footrest for comfort, a large lower basket to stow a diaper bag, and a clip-on cup holder. You can buy more storage accessories if you need a parent organizer to carry snacks and drinks for your little one.

You need to know that folding the stroller is a bit tricky for most people and requires both hands. It gets easy after a few times practicing but once folded, it assumes a free-standing position, which is neat and space-saving. It comes with a carrying strap, so it’s 15 pounds of weight feels even lighter on your shoulders.

If you are looking for a lightweight, space-saving, high quality, and comfortable stroller for your tall or big kid, UPPA baby GLUXE checks all the boxes. It accommodates kids weighing up to 55 pounds.

8 Best Sit and Stand Strollers of 2021

8 Best Sit and Stand Strollers of 2021

In this post, I review the best sit and stand baby strollers that are ideal for you if you have a preschooler and an infant.

If you have a toddler and an infant, having a sit and stand stroller makes going for a walk much easier than trying to use double strollers. Double strollers get unbalanced and very expensive anyways. Sit and stand strollers allow one child to sit while the other child can walk until they get tired and still have a place to stand or sit. My team and I have spent tens of hours over a span of three weeks to come up with this list.

How We Ranked Sit and Stand Strollers

We used the following 6 features to rank and compare all these sit and stand strollers:

  1. Harnesses: We ranked those with two harnesses better than those with a single harness.
  2. Weight of stroller: Light ones did better than heavier ones
  3. Foldability: Foldable ones did better
  4. Number of seats: Strollers that have an option of having a second seat did better
  5. Compatibility with car seats
  6. Handlebars

A sit n stand stroller helps out those parents who already have the older sibling and need something to help keep both children within arms reach. They also have places to store toys and other accessories to keep your children entertained on longer walks.

Sit and stand strollers help parents who have an active lifestyle to keep it. These strollers are compact and lightweight. Interchangeable parts are an important feature to look for in these strollers. Be sure to check on weight issues, to be sure that designed to fit both your children.

Some of these strollers can easily be detached and used as a car seat. The more uses you have for these interchangeable parts will mean the fewer accessories you will have to buy for your children. Always check the specials or sales area of any merchant to see if they have these specialty strollers on sale or at a reduced rate.Sit and Stand Strollers.

Britax B-Lively Vs B-free vs B-Agile vs Bravo vs Others

Below is a picture of Britax B-Lively, a travel stroller system developed and retailed by Britax. This Britax lightweight stroller was released to the market just over a year ago, on May 4, 2018, and parents have had great things to say about it.

Let’s start with its comparison with B-Agile.

Britax B-lively Vs B-Agile

Both Britax B-Lively and B-Agile are categorized as lightweight strollers as they do not exceed 20 pounds. Despite being lightweight, they can both support your infant’s weight from birth to 55 pounds. Britax B-Lively was released as an upgrade to B-Agile which has been in the market for a much longer period.

The biggest difference between B-Lively and B-Agile lies in their product weight, design, and ease of use. B-Lively is more durable with its sturdy design and is easier to use and fold with its one-hand quick-fold compared to B-Agile. On the other hand, B-Agile is lighter than B-lively by about 2 pounds and you can use it to maneuver through crowded places with ease.

It can, however, support your infant to when they have 65 lbs which is better than B-Lively’s 55 pounds limit. B-Free is however more expensive by more than $100 but as the difference in the table below shows, Britax B-Lively is better than B-Free. Best Travel System Strollers in 2021: All Available Options

For any parent considering a safe and maneuverable travel system, it is important to consider some features before making a purchase decision. A baby travel system is perhaps the only item you need to do some serious research to understand them as they are among the most expensive baby gear we’ve reviewed.

We’ve spent several weeks researching and comparing different features of the initial 23 baby travel systems that we shortlisted on this list. I was personally keen on each feature as I purchased a travel system that had weak frames that broke after 6 months. Like any customer, I was disappointed for losing the $480 as I had to purchase another stroller.

What Type of Stroller is Best?

The most suitable travel system depends on your lifestyle. There are three-wheel strollers and four-wheen strollers. Three-wheel strollers are great for stability enabling you and your baby to easily manouver crowds. On the other hand, four-wheel strollers have extra features such as extra storage and cup holders. If you usually travel your need to get a foldable stroller that is compact and light.

In summary, here are the common types of strollers you can choose from:

  • Full-sized strollers: These are the most common stroller types and features storage, seating, canopies, and multi-person reclining chairs
  • Umbrella Strollers: These are lightweight and compact strollers that fold up like an umbrella. Usually not very sturdy and does not offer much storage space.
  • Double strollers: These are ideal for twins or two kids close in age.
  • Jogging strollers: These strollers are sturdy enough to go for a jog while the baby remains comfortable.
  • Combo strollers: These are strollers that easily convert from one to more kids, rotate bassinet or seat direction, and are often compatible with car seats
  • Travel Systems: These are the ones that come with a car seat or car seat adapters.

Our Travel System Ranking Factors

Without further delay, let’s go through the features that we used to rank the strollers in this list:

  • Stroller safety and whether they have JPMA safety certification
  • Maneuverable
  • Compatibility of the travel system with other car seats
  • Ease of folding and carrying it around

Reviews of Best Travel System Strollers 2021

Below are the reviews of our top 10 baby travel system strollers.

1. Britax B-Lively Travel System

Britax B-Lively is our overall best travel system in this 2021 list. The B-Lively travel system comes with a B-Safe 35 infant car seat with base. We ranked it top specifically because of its easy compact fold, sturdy, maneuverable, and superior safety features with push-on LATCH connectors. This B-Lively travel system was released in May 2018 and is one of the few travel system strollers that is rated highly, 4.6/5 on Amazon.

This travel system is a combination of B-Lively stroller and the B-35 Infant car seat and is an upgrade of the earlier models such as B-Free. B-Lively is a car seat compatible with Britax infant car seats and they come with adapters. Suitable for infants 6 months and younger.

It is well-liked because of several features including the fact that it is very lightweight only weighing 20 pounds. It also has a large storage space that you can access from the back. This travel system is currently ranked number 23 out of the 100 best-selling baby strollers on Amazon.

Below is a demonstration and brief video review of the Britax B-Lively travel system:

Below are some other reasons that I really like about this travel system that I bet you’ll also appreciate:

  1. The 3-wheels are very ideal for manoeuvering any terrain and what makes it even better is that the front wheel pivots making it easy to navigate through any obstacles.
  2. It is the easiest stroller to fold and you’ll appreciate traveling with this stroller as it folds easily and fits into any car trunk that you may plan to use. The aluminum frames are also really light making it easy to carry it around.
  3. One seatback storage pocket.
  4. Small and self-standing when folded

When I was doing my research on the best strollers, my biggest concern was the size of storage bags as I had twins. Unlike the B-free model, this B-lively brand has an enlarged basket and if you plan to use it when visiting the zoo or just any park, you can rest easy knowing that the storage space can carry enough items including foods, diapers and much more.

Below is a review from a parent who is very happy about this travel system:

My husband and I decided to go with this one because of the high safety ratings, steel reinforced frame, grow with me insert, and easy install. We also decided on this stroller because it had the oversized canopy, big storage compartment, and will grow with our child. The material was true to the description, very nice and high quality as well as breathable. Very easy install for the car seat, Emorris, Jan 2019

The only disadvantage with this Britax travel system is that its handlebars are not adjustable.

Both Britax B Livey and Britax B Free brands have similarities such as age recommendations (suitable for 6 months and under) and both are not suitable for running or jogging. However, Britax B Lively is heavier than the B-free brand by 2 pounds. B Lively weighs 20 lbs and B Free weighs 18 pounds. Another big difference that makes the B-Lively brand stand out is that its stands can be folded unlike those of the B-free model that cannot be folded.

Despite the differences, both brands are equally good and Consumer Reports rated them equally when they subjected both to tests.
