One vs Dual-Camera Baby Monitors for Twins

In this post, I have reviewed and compared the best baby monitors for twins you can find in the market in 2021.

I have analysed and compared all the specifications of 23 brands ideal for monitoring twins in separate rooms or in separate cribs with split-screen viewing.

If you want to have your twins in the same room, a single monitor with a single camera would suffice but if you want them on seperate rooms, I highly recommend dual-camera baby monitors with split-screen viewing. Split-screen viewing is just one of the great features you’ll appreciate if you want to monitor your two kids in seperate rooms and intent to view them on a single screen.

As we updated our 2021 list, we ranked split-screen-viewing monitors higher than single-screen-viewing monitors to reflect our preference of split-screen monitors.

Our list of best baby monitors for twins has a number of brands such as Babysense, HeimVision, Axvue, VTech, DBPower, and LBTech dual camera baby monitors described below. HeimVision and LBTech are the latest entrants to the list as these baby monitors were released to the market in 2019. LBtech is a twin camera baby monitor while Heimvision comes with one camera but supports up to 4 cameras.

Features to look for in a Monitor for Twins

We used the following factors to rank the baby monitors for twins in this list:

Split-Screen Viewing
Split-screen viewing enables you to view both of your babies on the same screen side by side. Always opt for split-screen viewing dual-camera baby monitors.
Screen Size
The bigger the screen, the clearer the images and videos of your twins on the screen. I highly recommend going for large-screen baby monitors for your twins.
Cost($70 to $250)
As you select the ideal baby monitor to monitor twins, you should consider a 2-cameras baby monitor that will fit your budget. A dual-camera monitor saves you the hassle of buying another seperate baby monitor
Number of Cameras it Comes with
From my review, there are great baby monitors ideal for twins but do not come with 2 cameras. In other words, they require you to purchase the additional camera. Always consider dual-camera baby monitors.
Night Vision
Select baby monitors with near-invisible infrared night vision. Infrared niht vision ensures that you can view the videos of your babies at night even with low-light vision
Battery life
It really sucks to waste so much time trying to charge a fast-draining batteries. Consider purchasing large-capacity battery baby monitors that lasts at least the entire night.

Best Baby Monitor for Twins 2021: Babysense 4.3″ Split Screen

After considering the seven factors above, Babysense 4.3″ Split Screen emerged as the overall best baby monitor for monitoring twins or multiple babies. Babysense 4.3″ Split Screen edged out Axvue baby monitor brands that dominated our previous lists.

Here are the key factors that stood out and made Heimvision top on this list:

  • Excellent split-screen viewing
  • Large 5-inch screen that makes it easy to monitor two feeds
  • Long range of up to 1000 ft.
  • Supports up to 4 cameras and uses hack-proof FHSS technology
  • It has temperature sensors and lullabies.

We have reviewed this brand separately but read below to see the entire list and reviews.

Below is an entire list of all the best baby monitors for twins that we included in this list:

Best Twin Baby Monitors in 2021

Here is a complete list of our 10 best baby monitors for twins that come with two cameras or can support multiple cameras:

  1. Babysense Video Baby Monitor
  2. Heimvision HM136: Overall Best Baby Monitor for Twins
  3. Axvue E632: Second-best 2-camera baby monitor for twins
  4. VTech video baby monitors with 2 cameras
  5. LBTech Video Baby Monitors
  6. Motorola MBP50-2
  7. Moony Baby Monitor for Twins
  8. Summer Infant For Twins
  9. DBPower Baby Monitor Split Screen
  10. Infant Optics DXR 8 for Twins

We have the best cameras that best fit you and your twins because of these two key features we’ve looked out for as we ranked the best baby monitors for twins in 2021:

  • Dual Cameras baby monitors for your twins. We included a few baby monitors that come with one camera with an option to include an additional/second camera
  • Split-screen baby monitors for your twins

Twin baby monitors or monitors with 2 cameras are great for two babies. The obvious reason being you can install each camera in each of the baby’s cribs or in each of the baby’s rooms. If you can have a split-screen display to monitor the twins at the same time without having to manually switch from screen to screen, that’s another great plus we considered when we picked the top 10 list of baby monitor for twins below:

Reviews of the Best Baby Monitors for Twins – Updated 2021:

1. Babysense 4.3″ Split Screen: Overall Best Baby monitor for Twins

Babysense Split-Screen with 4.3-inch LCD screen is our overall best baby monitor for twins today. This Babysense model was released in February 2020 and comes with two cameras making it perfect for monitoring twins. Following our 2021 update, Babysense came top ahead of others in this list specifically because of the following features:

  • 4.3” high quality split-screen display
  • Come with two cameras with Pan, Tilt and Zoom
  • It has built-in lullabies with white noise sounds
  • Decent range of up to 960 ft.

Babysense also made it to our top non-wifi baby monitors of 2021 and made to these lists specifically, because of its long-range transmission and for its secure FHSS technology. The technology assures 100% privacy as it is hack-proof. Over 2,200 parents have rated this Hisense product 3.9/5 with about 54% of the parents giving it straight 5-stars. It is also important to note that most of the low reviews mention the smaller-screen Babysense monitor by the same company.

Babysense was one of our top non-wifi baby monitors of 2021. It made it to the list because of several factors other than its secure transmission technology, FHSS.

  • Number of cameras: 2
  • Number of monitors: 1
  • Screen size: 3.5 inches
  • Split-screen viewing: No, you press OK to switch
  • Max cameras it can support: 4
  • Does not require internet

While this 3.5-inch Babysense baby monitor is great for twins as it has a wider screen, you can only view one camera feed at a time just like the older 2.4-inch. The feed from the camera automatically switches from one camera to another every 10 seconds.

Babysense is one of the cheapest and most reliable baby monitors that you can trust to do the 2 years – approximate durability of baby monitors. You can set up Babysense in the separate rooms or in the same room with babies sleeping in different cribs. It goes for $89 and you get the following features:

  • Night vision
  • Temperature sensors (accurate unlike those of Infant Optics DXR 8 and Eufy Spaceviews’)
  • 2 digital cameras
  • 2.4 inch LCD screen – relatively smaller compared to others that have up to 5 inches making them more ideal for monitoring babies. Large screens are great for observing big images, regardless of the viewing modes – split-screen or single-view mode.
  • #15 best-selling video baby monitor (overall) and among the top-selling with 2 cameras
  • It is a non-wifi baby monitor.

2. HeimVision HM136 Video Baby Monitor

HeimVision HM136 came second on this list following our 2021 revision. We continually update this list as superior products such as Heimvision hit the market from time to time. Of 897 parents who have reviewed this video monitor, 87% of them have given it a straight 5-star rating.

Heimvision outranked the previously top-ranking twin baby monitors such as LBtech and Axvue as it has a critical feature that any baby monitor should have; the split-screen viewing feature. In addition to split-screen viewing, it supports up to 4 cameras and streams videos on a 5-inch LCD screen display from 720p HD cameras.

Heimvision has barely been on the market for one year as it was released on July 12, 2019, but so far it has an average rating of 4.7/5.

This 4.7/5 rating says a lot about why it is currently in the best-selling list of baby monitors (as of October 2019) and why parents have rated it very highly. There are several reasons we like this video baby monitor and we’ve reviewed it here.

After comparing it with other twin baby monitors on this list such as Axvue, LBtech, Summer Infant, and VTech dual camera baby monitors, we ranked HeimVision first because of these two reasons:

  • Split-screen viewing: Split-screen viewing enables you to view your twins on the same screen without having to toggle or to automatically scan between video footage of different cameras. Unlike Axvue E632, a favorite for a lot of parents with twins, HeimVision delivers what parents could not get with Axvue baby monitors. This split-screen feature makes it up for its higher price although you’ll still get it under $200.
  • Clear videos on a large screen: Heimvision HM136 comes with a large 5-inch LCD screen that allows you to view your twins on a color screen during the day. At night, Heimvision delivers high-quality black-and-white images as it uses an invisible 940nm infrared night vision feature.

The table below has some other features of Heimvision:

NameHeimvision HM136
Number of cameras it comes with 1
Number of cameras it supports 4
Key features It comes with a sensor that automatically detects
low-light conditions and turns on night vision mode.
It has a 2-way talk feature and uses LCD screen on its 5-inch display. Also uses a 2100mAh battery that

Below is a quick 5-minute video review of Heimvision:

3. AXVUE Video Baby Monitor With Two Cameras For Twins

Axvue video baby monitors emerged third in our list of best baby monitors for twins in 2021. Axvue brand is manufactured and distributed by Axvue Inc, a company that was incorporated in New York in 2016. In April 2017, it released its first dual-camera baby monitor, the Axvue E612 which was competitively priced compared to other top non-wifi baby monitors that require you to purchase an additional camera for up to $100. Below is a picture of AXVUE E612

From its initial release of E612 model, Axvue video baby monitors are perfectly made to gather for twins. For a price equal to those of other single-camera baby monitors, it has been able to do well as a product and thousands of families have relied on it and parents have distinguished Axvue as an all-time great monitor for twins.

Axvue E632 Video baby monitor with 2 cameras

In February 2018, Axvue released the Axvue E632 model which is the favorite for all parents with multiple babies.

Axvue E632 is a 5-inch screen display baby monitor with 2 cameras at a cost close to its predecessors, E612 which has a smaller screen size.

Unlike the E612 model that has a 4.3-inch screen, E632 has a 5-inch screen but both have 60 degrees pan.

Here are the features that make Axvue E632 an excellent monitor for twins:

  • Very affordable
  • Comes with 2 cameras
  • Automatic infrared light
  • Can support up to 4 cameras
  • Large screen with 5 inches diagonal
  • It does not require the internet as it uses hack-proof 2.4 GHz FHSS technology.

Below is a video review of Axvue E632. The short video describes the features which make E632 the best for your twins.

Right before the release of the E632 model, Axvue released E662, another dual-camera Video Baby Monitor for twins. E662 model has a smaller screen size but it is still split screen as the E632 and E612 models mentioned above.

These are the features of E662 model:

  • Number of cameras: 2
  • Number of monitors: 1
  • Screen size:2.8′
  • Split screen: No, switch between cameras manually
  • Max cameras it can support: 4
  • Non-Wifi (Does not require internet)

You can check its price here on Amazon.

4. VTech Video Baby Monitor With Two Cameras (VM321-2, SM8252-2, VM3251-2 and VM5271-2)

Among the VTech baby monitors with two cameras, the VM321-2 model is our fourth best video baby monitor for twins. VTech has a number of video baby monitors that have two cameras and different display sizes in the parent units. The oldest VTech 321-2 was released in March 2012, more than 7 years ago. In June 2019, it still sold over 170 units per month on Amazon (Data Source: Helium10).

VTech 321-2 (link to Amazon)

VTech VM321-2, the VTech video baby monitor with two cameras has an old school design that may appeal to those who used gadgets in the 80s and 90s. It is a very light baby monitor, ideal for traveling – weighing just 885g. It supports two languages, English and Spanish.

Below are some of its features:

  • Number of cameras ideal for twins: 2 cameras
  • 1000 ft.
  • 2-way talk-back
  • Adjustable camera lens
  • Comes with a wall mount bracket
  • Number of monitors: 1
  • Screen size: 2.8′
  • Split-screen viewing: Yes
  • Max cameras it can support: 4

VTech 321-2 is comparable to Axvue’s E662 model that has a 2.8-inch screen and allows split-screen viewing of its dual camera/video feeds from two rooms.

The video review below will give you a good idea of how Safe and Sound VTech 321-2 works, including its features:

VTech SM8252-2 - With two cameras
VTech SM8252-2 (Link to Amazon)

In October of 2018, VTech released another 2 camera video baby monitor called the VTech SM8252-2. What I really like about the new unit is cost, among several other factors. It comes with one camera and sells for less than $110 (Check current price). This is in comparison to VTech 321-2 which goes for $238 with the two cameras.

Here are some of the other great reasons to like VTech SM8252-2:

  • 5-inch color LCD
  • Automatic infrared night vision
  • Pre-programmed lullabies and soothing sounds (5 melodies) and ambient noises
  • Two Way Talk Back intercom
  • The parent unit is portable
  • Multiple viewing options – You can choose one camera view or the full-screen mode or you can do split-screen mode to show all the video feeds from the cameras of your twins or triplets. With the single view option, the screen switches from one feed to another in intervals of 10 seconds.

Below is a video showing a test that the couple did on VTech SM8252-2:

The above two options of VTech baby monitors with two cameras are great and our analysis uncovered that parents are very satisfied with these two non-wifi VTech baby monitors with two cameras.

VTech VM3251-2 Dual camera baby monitor
VTech VM3251-2 (Link to Amazon)

This is our third VTech video baby monitor with two cameras, VTech VM3251-2. It comes with two cameras and was released to the market in April 2017, just over 2 years ago. It sells for $99 (Check on Amazon today).

These are the other features of VTech VM3251-2 that parents with twins can’t stop talking about:

  • The 2.8-inch color LCD screen
  • Supports up to 4 cameras
  • 1000 ft. range
  • soothing sounds and lullabies
  • Automatic infrared night vision

5. LBTech Video Baby Monitor with Two Cameras For Twins

LBTech Video baby monitor is our fifth best baby monitor for twins in 2021. LBTech is our latest entrant into this list as it was released in March 2019, shortly after we released this list. LBTech has been made entirely for two babies and it comes with a dual camera and is cheaper than any option available 2 years ago.

Following an update on our top hack-proof FHSS baby monitors that do not rely on the internet, LBTech made to the list, coming behind Infant Optics, DBPower, UU Infant, Anmeate video monitor, and Eufy Spaceview S. LBTech scored very well in price and its dual-camera feature and we predict that by mid-2021, it will be strongly challenging VAVA baby monitor, the latest entrant.

If it wasn’t for LBTech’s non-split-screen viewing, it would have overtaken Moonybaby video baby monitor as the best video baby monitor for multiple rooms.

LBTech is currently rated 4/5 by customers in Amazon and as a parent, I highly recommend this twin baby monitor for the key reason that it is voice-activated. Sound-activated monitors limit dangerous EMF radiation that the monitor emits and it’s not surprising that LBTech EMF emission is almost half those of other traditional baby monitors such as VTech 5271 and Infant Optics DXR 8 (from the SAR Report on FCC’s website).

6. Motorola MBP50-G2 For Twins

Motorola MBP50-2 is one of Motorola brand baby monitors that came as the sixth-best video baby monitors for twins. Motorola MBP5-G2 is a dual camera that is mostly preferred for its split-screen viewing capability and large-screen display, (5-inches).

Aside from the two cameras, the display unit, and AC adapters, the baby monitor also comes with USB charger for the display and a star-grip that can bend in different ways. There is no support for another camera. But you can get a simple mini-tripod.

The older Motorola had a manually adjustable camera. The renewed Motorola baby monitor has pan, tilt, and zoom. Connect the two cameras using the AC adapter and power them on using the button on the side of the camera. You’ll see a green light that lets you know that it is capturing the images.

The images bounce back between the two cameras. The default is to only have one camera in view.

You can add up to 4 cameras

Below are some of the features that make Motorola with two cameras (MBP50-2) great for parents with twins:

  • Number of cameras: 2
  • Number of monitors: 1

7. MoonyBaby Video Baby Monitor Split Screen

Moonybaby video monitor with two cameras and a 4.3-inches screen is another great video baby monitor for twins. Similar to Motorola MBP50-G2, Moonybaby comes with two cameras but does not have a split-screen viewing feature on its large 4.3-inch screen.

There is another Moonbyaby video baby monitor with a larger 5-inch screen but is poorly reviewed, despite having split-screen viewing. More details below.

Buyer Guide for Parents Seeking Best Baby Monitor for Twins 2021

Here are what you should ask about each baby monitor you’re considering:

  1. Expandable: Can the baby monitor support more than one camera with a single display unit?
  2. Parent Unit/Receiver: Can the display unit or the parent unit display the feed from more than one camera?
  3. Split-Screen vs Full-Screen View: Can the baby monitor display unit show all the videos from multiple cameras in a split-screen or would you need to manually adjust the feed from one camera to another?
  4. Range: Does the camera allow for unlimited range viewing with a smartphone App – ideal if you want to use iPhone or Android app on a wifi baby monitor to monitor your twins

The 2021 list of the best baby monitors for twins has been updated significantly since February 2019 when AXVUE E series and Motorola MBP845 were released. Why Split Screen Are Perfect for Monitoring Twins and Multiple Babies (including triplets or siblings)

Split-screen feature in baby monitors enables you to view the video feed from two cameras, possibly from your two babies in different cribs.

For parents who chose to have babies into two separate rooms, baby monitors with a split-screen feature is very essential.

Using one display unit, you can view two of your babies side by side as shown in the diagram above.

Experience of a Parent with Twins and Her Advice on the Best Baby Monitor for Two Kids

This is a story of Susan, a Guest Blogger who gave birth to twins in 2017 and has had experiences with three of our best baby monitors for twins. Susan can be reached on

Ezra and Eli appearing on split screen display

It was a regular check-in my second trimester when my doctor told me I was going to have twins. As a first-time parent, I have a lot to say about how a video baby monitor has simplified my parenting so far. But it wasn’t that way when I had my twins. I have learned a lot through friends and various groups for parents with twins and below is my journey as I sought the best baby monitor for twins.

When the doctor told me I’d have twins, Ezra and Eli were months away and I was very scared wondering how I was going to raise two little boys. I was worried even when I thought I was going to have one baby, now I was going to have two. In a period of 3 months, I did research on a lot of gadgets helpful for parents with twins and I joined a few helpful groups for parents with twins. You can reach out if you want to join a group.

Below are some of the regular questions for parents with twins:

Aside from baby monitors related questions, I also get asked a lot of questions on whether to sleep with the twins in the same room or in the same crib.

On baby monitors, questions on whether to buy two baby monitors or to get an extra camera on an expandable baby monitor arises a lot.

I have the following to share with any parent with or expecting twins. Twins are a blessing and I’m very grateful for the journey and growth I’ve experienced as a parent. I say this because I think my experience is unique. I raised my twins on a 2-bedroom apartment in New York City

It was difficult…

Looking back, maybe it looked more difficult than it actually turned out to be. Either way, it is not an easy thing bringing up little ones in a city. Gadgets are lifesavers and a baby monitor gave me my sleep back. The day I delivered, our baby monitor was not working and my husband had to do everything he could to get it set up. Good thing our first baby monitor we bought was VTech VM321-2 which is quite easy to install. I couldn’t do it earlier as I was working until the very last few days of my delivery.

I chose to sleep with my twins in the same room and I initially thought maybe I didn’t need the baby monitor. But I was very wrong. I needed it and I still need it now even though they are just over 2 years. We actually ended up with the VTech VM321-2 and the Owlet Smart Sock 2, both of which served us really well.

For those who don’t know the powers of a baby monitor, the baby monitor can still take videos of your babies at night. If you switch off your lights when you go to bed, you know your bedroom gets dark. When it gets dark, you cannot check or even see your baby, even though you are in the same room.

Video baby monitors come with inbuilt night vision technology. When it gets dark or in low-light conditions, baby monitors are still able to capture images as it is able to illuminate on the baby using infrared light. The best-in-class baby monitors illuminates the baby using invisible infrared light. Some low-grade baby monitors, mostly the inexpensive type, have a glowing light but this can make it hard for you or your baby to sleep at night. Infrared is also light, just the invisible light (it is invisible because it uses a different frequency from that of visible light).

Regardless, night vision is a lifesaver and highly recommend that you pick a baby monitor with night vision.

As other posts on this site have indicated, the safety of your baby is key. You should consider those baby monitors that cannot be hacked. Hackers hacked over 2,500 security cameras and baby monitors in the UK in 2015 and streamed them live. You can read another story I contributed to baby monitor hacking and how to be safe.

If you choose to sleep in a separate room with your babies, you need to decide whether you want to have them in one room or two separate rooms. Having them in separate rooms can be very helpful as each will have his/her schedule. Having them in one room presents one big challenge when one starts crying or wakes up, it wakes up the other one! This is when parenting can suck.

If you decide to have them in separate rooms, you’ll also be faced with the other big challenge. The challenge is deciding whether to use a single expandable baby monitor that comes with one camera but can support an additional camera or just buy dual-camera baby monitors such as LBTech video baby monitor.

Both are equally good but after some research, I realized that you can get a dual-camera baby monitor for less than $200. On the other hand, if you get an expandable camera that comes with a single camera, you’d need to purchase an additional camera which can be as high as $100.

For example, Infant Optics DXR 8 costs about $160 and its add-on camera costs about $100. The total amount you’d need to spend on a complete video baby monitor for your twins will be $260. And remember, Infant Optics DXR 8 does not have a split-screen viewing feature.

Compare this with Moonybaby Split Screen baby monitor that comes with 2 cameras and will cost you about $150. Check today’s price here.

Split-screen baby monitor lets you use one screen to monitor your children without having to switch from one to another. A lot of great baby monitors including the best-selling Infant Optics DXR 8 is expandable but do not have a split-screen feature that is very necessary for parents with twins. Make sure you find a baby monitor with a split-screen viewing feature.
